How we grow and learn along the way takes us places we never would have seen otherwise. Like a trip where your car breaks down, and you are holed up in a ramshackle hotel in a small, bend in the road, town while the local grease monkey waits for parts from 96 miles away.
You meet the desk clerk and hear their story on how they made it out of Viet Nam, or the bar keep who rescued the bar from demolition, and keeps a couple locals employed. The shop with relics of the reconstruction that lead you to a deep dive on that period of history.
All of it is learning and growing, and sometimes when you get to your destination, you find that it wasn't the destination, it was the journey.
